biography & awards
Before he could read or write, he could already play popular classical pieces on the piano. Encouraged by these results, he was then enrolled in "O Bancila" Arts School, a school for young gifted students which provides specialized musical performance education besides general education.
During the school years, he performed publicly in music venues around the country, delivering consistent performance after consistent performance, in both recitals and piano competitions. This led to appearances on both radio and TV.
Cristian continued his piano studies at the "G. Enescu" University of Arts. After graduating top of this class in 2004, he further pursued his postgraduate education, obtaining a Master's degree in piano performance in 2006.
Not only as a classical pianist, Cristian became an accompanist at the National Opera House in 2000.
This presented a very good opportunity to learn while working, having he chance to work with world class conductors and soloists. Caffe Florian in Venice, Italy is the oldest coffehouse in the world, with almost 300 years of history. As a member of a small chamber performed almost 300 years of history. As a member of a small chamber orchestra including 2 violins, contrabass, accordeon and clarinet, Cristian performed for three years during the summer season in this hystoric and artistic landmark. The repertory was immensely varied, ranging from classical to opera, jazz to pop, chamber music to musical and screen music, totaling more then 2000 pieces.
Since moving to Nagoya in 2005, Cristian has continued performing both solo and in collaboration with famous artists in prominent concert halls across Japan. In 2007 the first album "Mia bella Venezia" was released in association with San Marco Orchestra. Also, this orchestra performed in the presence of Prince and princess Akishino at the FAOPS Congress in 2008, with Cristian playing piano.
Recently, he has been invited as a jury member at the Europe International Piano Competition in Japan and also to appear on TV Asahi special piano show.
